“There are many layers
to practicing yoga.

You can delve as deep as
you want to, there is
always more to learn.”

I wanted to learn more about how yoga can heal, strengthen and provide peace.

My yoga training has a therapeutic focus and includes yoga for those with limb loss/limb difference; yoga for those living with and survivors of cancer; yoga for senior adults; and yoga for the military community. I strive to bring a specialized, attentive approach to my classes.

I believe that yoga is for everyone, connecting mind, body & soul through mindful practices.

Testimonials

I started taking Heather’s yoga class the day after starting chemo. You could feel the warmth and compassion from Heather and those attending and it helped me during a very difficult time. As time has gone by (nearly 10 years), my love and appreciation for Heather, my fellow yogi-mates and yoga has only deepened. As I have learned over these past years, it is not only about the movements we do but also about our connection with one another and our world. I look forward to each class and to finding out what is ‘in store’ for that day’s lessons. I would absolutely recommend Heather’s classes as she brings so much to each individual.”

Heather is a very experienced and knowledgeable yoga instructor, but more than that, she cares about the whole person. As an amputee and a person with physical limitations, I appreciate Heather’s kind and gentle way. She is able to connect with her students in a nonjudgmental way. She is able to guide her students with respect through their yoga practice. I feel that I am very fortunate to have Heather as my yoga teacher.”

I absolutely LOVE her classes!! I have been taking yoga with Heather for 10 years and she offers a gentle yet challenging program. She is very interested in your overall well being and offers mediation and uplifting readings during her sessions. I also had a serious health issue this year, and she made a private video with yoga poses that would help me process the stress and keep my body fighting!!! I have nothing but amazing things to say about Heather”

I take yoga from Heather because of the special care she gives to our class. Our Chair Yoga actually has some standing and floor poses as well. Heather is acutely aware of each person’s limitations and has them adjust accordingly. I have been in the class close to 10 years and see myself there indefinitely. I am always filled with such peace and well being after each session. She tends not only to my physical body but to my mental state as well. Her special readings at the end of class are inspiring.”

Heather’s yoga classes are filled with warmth, knowledge and fun. As a student of hers, you not only develop yoga skills and strength, but also learn how yoga supports good health and well-being. She is attentive to each student, whether beginner or advanced, and offers praise and encouragement throughout each lesson. Her classes will leave you energized, filled with camaraderie, and ready to take on the rest of your day

Heather is an incredibly knowledgeable and caring instructor. She is able to take what can be complex yoga teachings and distill them into understandable concepts — and then structures her classes to reinforce these concepts. Drawing on her considerable training and teaching experience, Heather excels at assisting students to adapt poses to avoid injury or to accommodate physical limitations. Her classes are always inspiring and motivating

Heather is an outstanding yoga teacher. She is knowledgeable, highly skilled, student-centered, and especially attentive and helpful to students who have injuries and special needs.”

Heather is one of the most beautiful, and responsible yoga teachers that I have met.She is very patient, happy and pleasant. She is always ready to explain in detail what the different moves are so that one can understand”

Finding a yoga instructor you connect with can be challenging. That’s why I’m so thrilled with Heather Thamer. Not only is she the nicest person but also the best instructor. Maybe since she was a teacher, she gives precise, perfectly timed instructions for all yoga poses. I can literally follow her directions without looking at her. I enjoy her passion and love for yoga and her students.”
